LIIAR analysis of the brief.

LIIAR Analysis of the brief.

Language-

The front cover of my music magazine needs to have a masthead, this will be a short, memorable title that the reader will remember, and it will be shown as a large icon in the left hand corner of the front page. Another thing my front page will have is a large MCU (Medium close up) image as the main image for my front page, this will be an eye catching image in which the subjects in the photo will be making eye contact with the camera and the audience. It will also have a consistent house style; this is my magazine having two or three main colours used throughout my front page, contents page and double page spread, I will also include thumbnail images, these will be used to represent other articles in the magazine and make the front page look professional. The front page will also include anchorage; these are words that are used to direct the meaning of an image for a reader. These are things like captions, text boxes, slogans and voiceovers. To give my magazine a professional look I will also include a price on my magazine and a barcode, this is very conventional for most music magazines. Another thing I will use is teasing contents along the bottom, this will include something like a competition, and this will grab the reader’s attention. My main article (double page spread) will be used to advertise the main image (MCU) of my magazine; this will be a story relating to the image about the band I have chosen.

Institution-

The institution I will be representing is the name I choose to create for my magazine, I haven’t thought of this yet as I am not at this point. A magazine that I am taking inspiration from is NME, this is because it is a similar magazine to the one I want to create, and this is because it meets the same target audience as I am aiming for and writes about the same sort of music my magazine will represent. The examples shown at the bottom of the page are from NME magazine, and are good examples of style and magazines I would like to base mine on.

Ideology-

The magazines moral values and beliefs will be things like having a good sense when it comes to music; this will match my target audience and will meet their tastes.

Audience-

My target audience are people within the age group 16-24; this is because they are likely to be in the age group that likes the sort of music my magazine will represent, this is all based on how influenced this age group is and I will go further into my target audience before I upload my final pieces of work.

Representation-

I intend to use my magazine to create a positive image for my target audience and the sort of music they listen to, I would also like to meet a lot of the conventions and stereotypes you would expect from any type of magazine, this would be including things such as the use of a large MCU as the main image and the use of thumbnail images to represent other articles, I would also like to keep the convention used of having the masthead in the top left hand corner.
